When to go
- October to March. The main wedding season in the hills: clear skies and comfortable days. Popular dates fill early, so book venues well ahead.
- April to June. Hot afternoons by the river. Morning and evening functions work best.
- July to September. Monsoon. Heavy rain can close hill roads, so we plan covered venues and spare travel time, or suggest another season.
Getting there
- By road from Delhi: the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway, opened in April 2026, brings the drive down to about two and a half hours. Rishikesh is a short drive on from Dehradun.
- By air: Jolly Grant Airport is between Dehradun and Rishikesh.
Good to know
- The sale of meat, fish and eggs is not allowed within Rishikesh's municipal limits, so menus there are usually vegetarian. Rules can differ outside the city limits, so we confirm food and drink with each venue.
- Riverside venues are popular for morning pheras and evening aarti, so we plan the schedule around the light.
